History

Built by local landowner Sir Thomas Whichcote, who lived at Aswarby Hall, and bearing the family coat of arms carved in stone above the front door and his initials on the date stone; The property still part of the Aswarby Estate. At first glance the building looks more like a manor house; however the building at the back of the car park was originally the brew house.

Situated on the old coaching route from Peterborough to Lincoln it is believed to have built on the site of an earlier public house known as the Coach & Horses and this perhaps explains why our cellar appears to be much earlier than the current building.
